For those new to this, select items at Dollar General are marked down to just $0.01. Yes, a penny! While the employees are instructed to remove these items from the shelves, anything still available is fair game for customers.

Tips for Penny Shopping Success

Shop Early: Penny items sell out quickly if there are any to be found in your store. Get to your local Dollar General as soon as doors open.
Be Polite: Number 1 rule of penny shopping is DO NOT ASK THE EMPLOYEES FOR PENNY ITEMS! Number 2 rule be kind and don’t make a mess. Number 3 rule is the price at the register is the price. So if it rings full price just say no thank you, I thought it was a different price.
